Dholidhaja Dam — the local nature stop

About 18–20 km from the Junction, this reservoir is the district's easiest escape: picnic, winter waterbirds, and a sunset that needs no permit and no planning.

Why it works

Picnic, birds, sunset

Dholidhaja is where locals go with a blanket and a flask. In winter it's also a free birding spot — egrets, cormorants and assorted waterbirds along the shore, no jeep or permit required. Come for a late-afternoon picnic and stay for the sunset; it's the gentlest hour in the district.
