Where to stay in Surendranagar district
Base yourself by your plan: the Junction for city and Wadhwan, Chotila for the hill, Dasada for the Rann. Here's the honest range at each.
Surendranagar city — the practical base
Functional, clean hotels near the Junction and Station Road — a bed, a bathroom, a decent breakfast, easy train access. Ideal for the city + Wadhwan + Chotila plans. Budget to mid-range.
Wadhwan — heritage stays
A handful of heritage-leaning options near the old town. Quieter than the city, closer to the painted lanes and bandhani workshops. Good for slow travellers.
Chotila — dharamshalas & simple lodges
For the dawn climb, stay at the foot: temple dharamshalas and simple lodges. Basic but clean, and you skip the 60-minute morning drive.
Dasada — eco-lodges for the Rann
The reason people overnight here: proper eco-lodges that arrange permits, jeeps and guides. The classic way to do the Little Rann properly.
Booking advice
When to book ahead
- December–February: book 4–8 weeks ahead, especially Dasada lodges.
- Navratri (both) and Tarnetar: book 6+ weeks ahead; prices rise and rooms vanish.
- Uttarayan weekend: a week ahead is usually enough.
- Monsoon: walk-in is fine almost everywhere.
